Blue Pine Cones of Thumsee

Like featherless heron hatchlings, these blue pine cones peek out of their chartreuse nest of needles. I wish I could tell you which species of pine this is but I haven't been able to find a convincing answer on the internet. I suspect they are not common in North America.

  1. Martha, I guess this is the Korean Fir, Abies Koreana. You can find this sometimes planted in gardens, but it doesn't grow in the wild here.
