Incense in Stephansdom

Incense smoke lingered in the air, softening the stained glass tinted sunlight, after Sunday morning services at Vienna's magnificent Stephansdom cathedral.

  1. This is a great photo. Love the reflection off the the glass in the lower right hand corner which balances the brass chandelier in the upper left. Texture of the light is great.

  2. Appreciate your comments, Jeff. Thought for a moment about cropping that reflection out but decided it would take away too much of the curve of the staircase. Glad you approve of leaving it in!

  3. Yes, I approve of leaving that in the picture, but then I suspect you make the right choices when framing or cropping your pictures.

  4. Actually, Jeff, this is one of my favorite photos of all I've taken because of its painterly qualities...the softness of the incense smoke and the stained glass (which is not even visible in the shot). I like the colors and the timeless qualities in it and would like to be able to re-do it with the same effects but without the modern clues. Mozart has some links, of course, to this place and I'm thinking of doing a Mozart post....
