Lake Balaton as an Abstract Vista

Lake Balaton, in Hungary, is the largest lake in Central Europe. An extremely popular destination for visitors in the summer, it was eerily deserted and snowing when we were there. With most of the lake covered in ice, the horizon obscured by falling snow and small streams of dark water providing contrast against the snow and ice, we were met with what seemed to be a panoramic abstract painting.

We did learn that the area around the lake is fantastic in the spring when thousands of almond trees are in bloom. I am hoping we can see that sight this year!
