May Day at Herrenchiemsee

Fountains playing, flowers blooming, sun shining, pastries waiting—a spectacular day for a stroll around Herrenchiemsee, Bavaria, Germany.

  2. Beautiful, for sure and huge! But you have a beautiful back yard as well with all the State and National Parks. When we move home I'm tempted to volunteer in a beautiful state or national park, even if it means living in a tent.

  4. As Herrenchiemsee is on an island and requires a ferry to get you there, I suspect the crowds are never as large as at Ludwig's other palaces, Newschwanstein and Linderhof. To be sure, there were people there but, in general, I try not to invade their privacy by getting close to their faces. Glad you like the cake!!

    Yes, it is, however Ludwig died before it was completed and some sections of the palace were later demolished. It's still a lovely place to take a stroll.
